4 new deals at the Dragons

There have been new contracts agreed with a number of key Dragons players in recent weeks.

This is brilliant news and highlights the need to keep this squad together over the coming years.

Skipper Ben Garcia was the first to sign, with a long term deal that effectively sees the best years of his career being at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Hot property and England international Tom Davies has a similar extension to hopefully ward off suitors of his from the NRL.

He is in brilliant form and getting the best run of try scoring of his career.

Sam Tomkins just gets one more year and we hope he will keep up his current level of performance for 2021 and 2022.

Finally Josh Drinkwater adds 2 years to his contract in a real comeback after a tough stint at Hull KR.

JD famously came from building site to Perpignan before starring in our 2018 cup win. However future terms couldn't be agreed and he went to Hull KR before returning in 2020.

He has been exceptional all season.

  • Ben Garcia - 3 years
  • Tom Davies - 3 years
  • Sam Tomkins - 1 year
  • Josh Drinkwater - 2 years
Thanks to all for their efforts to date for the club and long may their current success continue.

The 90's big beat act Propellerheads would be looking to get a re-release for their big hit with Shirley Bassey to describe this one.

And it was all just a littlbe bit of history repeating itself with the Dracs down and almost out at half time before getting back over Leeds in the home straight.

Top of the league and grinding out results. This isn't how its supposed to be is it?

Catalans Dragons (20) 50

This bizarre season of Superleague continued with the Dragons pounding Hudderfield Giants at the John Smiths Stadium.

The run now stands at 7 wins in a row before our encounter with improving Leeds Rhinos.

With a 20-0 lead at the break it would have taken one of those impolosions we have become used to seeing in previous seasons to lose this one, but the Dracs added to their advantage and kept their hosts at arms length.

8 tries and 8 different scorers shows that maybe we are beginning to ease our reliance on Tom Davies for the four pointers and that can only be a good thing.
