Dragons true to form and beaten by London... again... its rubbish isnt it.

Catalans Dragons (0) 4

T : Brayden Wiliame
G :
DG :

London Broncos (8) 17

T : Kieran Dixon, Alex Walker
G : Kieran Dixon 4
DG : Brock Lamb

The Dragons took heed of our harsh words about their performance and improved to just get beaten this week as opposed to hammered.

Thanks lads!

Can we just call this season over now and get on the beach? With their suspensions racking up after Ben Garcia got one in this match, half the team are already on holiday.

We could rant on like last week but what good does it do? For the main this season has been horrible with few highlights aside from the Camp Nou.

Interestingly Bernard seems to have started to lose patience with this mob and not before time. They have been sent to altitude this week to get some fitness and hopefully spike performance back at sea level. All public training sessions have also been cancelled.

There are no words...

Leeds Rhinos (16) 48

T : Ash Handley 2, Rhyse Martin, Richie Myler 2, Robert Lui, Luke Briscoe
G : Rhyse Martin 10

Catalans Dragons (8) 8

T : Mickael Goudemand
G : Tony Gigot 2

I would love to say I had such high hopes for the season but even back in January when I appeared on Super League Pod, I called how this campaign would go.

That doesn't make me a genius or some sort of mystic prophet. It makes me someone who knows a little bit about the game (and granted, a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous!) and who, along with loads of other people saw this coming.

I am not asking for accolade or showing a sense of pride in being correct, however. I just wish it was different.

It seems that whomever plays and whomever is the coach, we have no bottle for big games away from home and as soon as we go behind we are mentally switching off and seem desperate to get back on the plane and home.

This has been forever thus and if anyone thinks that James Maloney will make enough of a difference to change this mindset, I think you are wrong.

There is nothing to say about this game. We've said the same thing too many times now.

Get this season over please. Enough now.

As a nice aside...

...from our Catalans woe this season, here is a link to my local teams Midlands RL play off.

Battle of Brutus sees violence overshadow win

Catalans Dragons (8) 30

T : Fouad Yaha, David Mead, Matt Whitley, Tony Gigot
G : Sam Tomkins 7

Warrington Wolves (4) 10

T : Jake Mamo, Chris Hill
G : Stefan Ratchford

Its hard to talk about this match without mentioning the disgraceful scenes in the stands and on the pitch but we have covered that elsewhere and want to talk about the match.

It was a decent game for the most part with no quarter asked or given and despite the heat and the fact both sides have seen more than enough of each other over the last year, it was (as coach Steve McNamara said in his press conference) the right result with the right team winning.

It was a positive to see Matt Whitley back and scoring tries along with Tony Gigot scoring an un Gigot like touchdown by bulldozing the line. I only hope his more positive body language is a pre-cursor to better form and maybe a signature on the contract he has yet to approve.

Greg Bird was back and starting to enjoy his swansong, along with Sam Tomkins whose goal kicking was impecable.

Warrington weren't there to make up the numbers and in other circumstances this would have been seen as a really good win.

However the losses in terms of players to injury (Yaha) and supsension (most of the others) means this could well be the last 2 points of the Dragons season and that we will be on the receiving end of another hammering at Leeds this week.

Matty Smith joins Warrington

In one of the most bizarre ever sporting transfers between two clubs at war since the violence which marred their weekend match, Matty Smith has left Catalans to join Warrington on loan for the rest of the season.

With most of our players suspended after the weekends debacle this seems an odd move at an odd time.

However its best Smith moves on after a nightmare time in the South of France where he has struggled to fit into the boots left vacant by Josh Drinkwater.

We wish him well.

One player who wont be coming in to bolster the Dragons numbers is Morgan Escare who joins Wakefield Trinity on loan.

Dragons suspension list is lengthy...

5 Dragons players have been suspended after the battle of the Brutus.

Brayden Williame, Micky McIlorum and Mika Simon get one game. Sam Tomkins gets three and Kenny Edwards a hearing.

David Mead just a caution.

And shock horror despite plenty of evidence to the contrary the RFL only think Tom Lineham was involved from Warrington.

Same old.

Saturday at Stade GB

We would like to add our feelings of horror and sadness regarding the violent outbreaks during the match with Warrington Wolves over the weekend.

As Dragons fans we take our responsibilities of supporting the club seriously and understand we are representing the whole community in doing so.

We do not accept or condone violence in any way shape or form and would echo both clubs statements in terms of rooting out and dealing with those involved.

On the field matters we will cover shortly.
